Robert M. Timm, PhD
Bob Timm is Director and Extension Wildlife Specialist at the University of California's Research and Extension Center at Hopland, in Mendocino County, approximately 100 miles north of San Francisco. Prior to returning to California in 1987, he was Extension Vertebrate Pest Specialist and Associate Professor at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
A native of southern California, Bob graduated from the University of Redlands in 1971, and then continued for his doctorate in ecology at UC Davis in 1977. His principle areas of interest include the biology, behavior, and management of rodents and canids.
Bob served as an editor of the 1994 edition of the reference volume Prevention and Control of Wildlife Damage, and was editor and publisher of the 1984 edition. He is currently chairperson of the Vertebrate Pest Council and has served as Managing Editor for the Proceedings of the Vertebrate Pest Conference since 2002. A Certified Wildlife Biologist, he is past chairperson of the Wildlife Damage Management Working Group of The Wildlife Society. Since 2000, he has represented the University of California on the Vertebrate Pest Control Research Advisory Committee of the California Department of Food and Agriculture.
Bob has served as a consultant and speaker on rodent problems in Bangladesh, China, Canada, Armenia, and Azerbaijan. During 2009, he was on sabbatical leave at Lincoln University, near Christchurch, New Zealand, where he began authorship of a natural history-type book on ‘rats of the world’. |
